Hematuria is sign of genitourinary pathology with a substantial differential diagnosis.
Causes of hematuria:
- Nodular hyperplasia of the prostate gland (benign prostatic hyperplasia).
- Urinary tract infection.
- Nephrolithiasis.
- Urothelial carcinoma.
- Renal cell carcinoma, e.g. clear cell renal cell carcinoma.
- Drugs.
- Others.
Classic mimics:
- Beeturia.[1]
- Bleeding from elsewhere - vaginal, rectal.
