Hematuria

Hematuria is sign of genitourinary pathology with a substantial differential diagnosis.

Causes of hematuria:

• Nodular hyperplasia of the prostate gland (benign prostatic hyperplasia).
• Urinary tract infection.
• Nephrolithiasis.
• Urothelial carcinoma.
• Renal cell carcinoma, e.g. clear cell renal cell carcinoma.
• Drugs.
• Others.

Classic mimics:

• Beeturia.
• Bleeding from elsewhere - vaginal, rectal.
