Causes

Classic causes of lower GI bleed (mnemonic CHAND):

• Colitis.
  • Infectious colitis.
  • Ischemic colitis.
  • Inflammatory bowel disease.
  • Radiation colitis.
• Hemorrhoids.
• Angiodysplasia.
• Neoplasms - colorectal carcinoma and others.
• Diverticular disease.

Other:

• Solitary rectal ulcer.
