Decendent identification, also identification, is an important part of a death investigation.

Usual means of identification:

  • Visual (facial).
  • Circumstantial - right place, locked premises, personal identification.
  • Fingerprints.
  • Dental.
  • Skeletal features - see forensic anthropology.
  • DNA.
