Bright red blood per rectum, abbreviated BRBPR, is a nonspecific sign with a longer differential diagnosis.
Causes
Classic causes of lower GI bleed (mnemonic CHAND):
- Colitis.
- Hemorrhoids.
- Angiodysplasia.
- Neoplasms - colorectal carcinoma and others.
- Diverticular disease.
