Toxic megacolon is a marked acute dilation of the colon. It is classically associated with ulcerative colitis.
General
It may be seen in:
- Crohn's disease.
- Chagas disease.[1]
- Clostridium difficile colitis.[2]
Gross
- Dilated colon.
- Eroded mucosa.
- +/-Pseudomembranes.
