Spread through air spaces, abbreviated STATS, is a poor prognosticator in lung cancer.

Definition

It is defined as tumour that is in the air space and some distance from the main tumour.[1]

Grading of STATS

A study by Han el al. divided STATS into two groups:

  • Grade I: < 2.5 mm from the tumour.
  • Grade II: >= 2.5 mm from the tumour.

Grade II STATS is a poor prognosticator.[1]
