Renal failure, also kidney failure, is dysfunction of the kidneys.

It can be subdivided in a number of different ways.

Acutity

  • Acute kidney injury (abbreviated AKI) - previously acute renal failure (abbreviated ARF).
  • Chronic renal failure (CRF).
