Invasive papillary carcinoma of the breast is an uncommon type of invasive breast cancer.
It should not be confused with indolent behaving intracystic papillary carcinoma of the breast, also known as encapsulated papillary carcinoma of the breast).
General
- Rare ~ 1-2% of breast carcinomas in women.[1]
- The "solid" variant (papillae dramatically compressed together) can also occur.[1]
Microscopic
Features:
- Similar architecture to the encysted variant but no cyst.
- Frankly invasive.
