== Pityriasis rubra pilaris ==
I added a bit to the topic... as I try to avoid empty pages. I can't say I know much about [[pityriasis rubra pilaris]] (PRP).  The only place it shows up otherwise is in the [[inflammatory skin]] article (it is in a DDx for ''[[regular psoriasiform dermatitis]]''). Feel free to mercilessly edit the PRP article. [[User:Michael|Michael]] ([[User talk:Michael|talk]]) 02:34, 24 September 2014 (EDT)
== Desmoid tumour ==
I see you managed to upload some images. :-)
I am wondering what you mean by "Syndromic desmoids (~5%)" in the [[desmoid tumour]] article.  Is that 5% of desmoids are syndromic? Do you have a reference?
I try to reference pretty much everything... so people can read where I got something from and scrutinize that source-- if they don't want to believe something. [[User:Michael|Michael]] ([[User talk:Michael|talk]]) 03:04, 3 October 2014 (EDT)
==Editing==
You can sign messages with four tildes <nowiki>~~~~</nowiki>.
If you have any questions about the mechanics of editing, don't hesitate to ask. With regard to the abstract, I still have the presentation I did on editing. Looking back, it is a bit rough around the edges -- but if you are interested I can send them your way. [[User:Michael|Michael]] ([[User talk:Michael|talk]]) 01:26, 9 October 2014 (EDT)
== References ==
I realized that Slide 13 (of the editing presentation I sent you) is not well explained.
The simplest reference consists of: <br>
''<nowiki><ref> Some text </ref></nowiki>''
If you want a reference with a hyperlink: <br>
''<nowiki><ref> [http://www.google.com Google] </ref></nowiki>''
By convention, I have done them this way on ''Libre Pathology'': <br>
''<nowiki><ref>URL: [http://www.google.com http://www.google.com]. Accessed on: October 15, 2014.</ref></nowiki>''
The set of double curly braces  <nowiki>{{ }}</nowiki>  is used to invoke a [[Wikipedia:Help:Template|template]] (such as the [[:Template:Citation|''Citation'' template]] used with PubMed references).
I changed the references in ''[[Metaphyseal fibrous defect‎]]'' and will tweak the article a bit soon.  It is a great start! [[User:Michael|Michael]] ([[User talk:Michael|talk]]) 02:51, 15 October 2014 (EDT)
==Metaphyseal fibrous defect‎==
I re-worked it a bit so that it conforms more to the [[format]] of the site. The article still needs some references.
Your images are nicely focused but have significant [[vignetting]]. If you are taking more, [[Koehler illumination]] helps reduce that. Preceding stated, I am thinking about how I can tweak images like that. [[User:Michael|Michael]] ([[User talk:Michael|talk]]) 01:55, 17 October 2014 (EDT)
==Photos==
Yes - you'll see that in a number of the images I have - there is an explanation but it's fairly ridiculous.
:Sometimes the 'ridiculous' is the most interesting. In any case, a less-than-ideal picture is better than no picture. :-)
Fortunately my skin material lacks the 'bowing' and is much nicer.
:Sounds good.
Please let me know if you ever figure out how to fix that appearance.
:I have [[Microphotography#Adapted_from_codeforhire.com|a partial fix]] -- that looks very convoluted if one has never used [http://www.gimp.org GIMP]. I am looking for even better though-- but that will be some time. I have some pictures with that effect too-- I took them before I knew anything about [[microphotography]].
:Currently, I use what I call the [[Microphotography#Student_method|student method]]. It is cumbersome-- but parts are automated with a script.
[[User:Michael|Michael]] ([[User talk:Michael|talk]]) 02:09, 20 October 2014 (EDT)
PS - I created [[User:Sarah|your user page]] -- you can change it however you want. I have some subpages -- for notes, e.g. [[User:Michael/Notes]]. Feel free to use [[[[User:Sarah|your user page]] for notes or create a subpage (e.g. [[User:Sarah/Notes]]).
==Mesenchymal chondrosarcoma==
I created a separate article and moved the material. I am a bit low on sleep... have to check later.
The article ''[[mesenchymal chondrosarcoma]]'' already existed and redirected to [[chondrosarcoma]].
Generally speaking, this is true for many subtypes -- I "redirect" them to the main diagnosis. When the section about the subtype gets too big... it becomes a separate article.
This is what the old version of ''mesenchymal chondrosarcoma'' looked like: [http://librepathology.org/wiki/index.php?title=Mesenchymal_chondrosarcoma&oldid=27269]
[[User:Michael|Michael]] ([[User talk:Michael|talk]]) 04:17, 20 November 2014 (EST)
<br>
PS - Yesterday (Nov 19) the wiki had over 450 visitors... a new (one day) record. :-)
==Un-redirecting==
Editing an article that is redirected can be done a couple of ways:
# Type the article name into the search box and click on it. Then scroll to the very top of the article you were sent to and you should see the 'article name' as a link-- click on it. For example you want to edit ''[[granulomas]]'' which redirects to the article ''[[basics]]''.  If you follow the link to granulomas-- and scroll back to the top of ''basics'' (after it sends you there) you'll see "'''Basics''' (Redirected from [[Granulomas]])". If you click on the ''Granulomas'' there it will take you to the article.
# You can type in ''<nowiki>http://librepathology.org/wiki/index.php?title=NAMEOFARTICLEHERE&action=edit</nowiki>'' into the address bar -- and replace ''NAMEOFARTICLEHERE'' with the name of the article you want to edit, e.g. ''http://librepathology.org/wiki/index.php?title=granulomas&action=edit'' .
I hope the above helps! [[User:Michael|Michael]] ([[User talk:Michael|talk]]) 00:11, 21 November 2014 (EST)
== Images :-) & breast pathology ==
It is as if you've been on fire the last little while. :-)
Feel free to add images to the ''[[Template:Infobox diagnosis|infobox diagnosis]]''. I did it for the [[metaplastic breast carcinoma]] article - see [http://librepathology.org/wiki/index.php?title=Metaplastic_breast_carcinoma&diff=36913&oldid=36907] - after you added the many images. If you have any questions, as always don't hesitate to ask.
On the topic of breast pathology, I recently read an interesting article http://jama.jamanetwork.com/article.aspx?articleid=2203798 . I probably ought to work that into the [[quality]] article. I came across it on the PATHO-L list -- which has some discussion on it ([http://www.mailman.srv.ualberta.ca/pipermail/patho-l/2015-March/thread.html PATHO-L -- see Read it and weep]). Welcome to Libre Pathology!

I see you have already made an edit and managed to insert a reference.

A few useful pages:

By the way, you can sign your name on Talk pages and Discussion pages using three tildes, like this: ~~~. Four tildes (~~~~) produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, ask me on my talk page. I look forward to more of your edits. Again, welcome! Michael (talk) 11:34, 3 August 2014 (EDT)

Creating a new page & other things

To create a new page

  1. Enter the name of the page in the search box at the top right
  2. Hit return
  3. Click "Create" (it appears at the top-- if one is logged in)

A couple of different ways are described here.

Adding a photo

[[Image: name of the image | thumb | A caption.]]

File uploads on the site are currently disabled-- but any file uploaded to the WikiCommons ( http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Main_Page ) can be added by just adding the name of the file name on the WikiCommons.

For example:

[[Image:Atypical ductal hyperplasia - very high mag.jpg|thumb|100px|An image of [[atypical ductal hyperplasia]].]]

Grabs the file http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Atypical_ductal_hyperplasia_-_very_high_mag.jpg and creates a local copy.

The result is seen below:

Feel free to play in the Sandbox -- it is for trying out edits.

Standard headings...

The standard headings for a diagnosis article are in the Format article under the section Diagnosis article.

If you copy and paste what is in the box below-- it is a good start to a page:

{{ Infobox diagnosis
| Name       = {{PAGENAME}}
| Image      =
| Width      =
| Caption    =
| Synonyms   =
| Micro      =
| Subtypes   =
| LMDDx      =
| Stains     =
| IHC        =
| EM         =
| Molecular  =
| IF         =
| Gross      =
| Grossing   =
| Site       =

Editing

You can sign messages with four tildes ~~~~.

If you have any questions about the mechanics of editing, don't hesitate to ask. With regard to the abstract, I still have the presentation I did on editing. Looking back, it is a bit rough around the edges -- but if you are interested I can send them your way. Michael (talk) 01:26, 9 October 2014 (EDT)

References

I realized that Slide 13 (of the editing presentation I sent you) is not well explained.

The simplest reference consists of:
<ref> Some text </ref>

If you want a reference with a hyperlink:
<ref> [http://www.google.com Google] </ref>

By convention, I have done them this way on Libre Pathology:
<ref>URL: [http://www.google.com http://www.google.com]. Accessed on: October 15, 2014.</ref>

The set of double curly braces {{ }} is used to invoke a template (such as the Citation template used with PubMed references).

I changed the references in Metaphyseal fibrous defect‎ and will tweak the article a bit soon. It is a great start! Michael (talk) 02:51, 15 October 2014 (EDT)

Metaphyseal fibrous defect‎

I re-worked it a bit so that it conforms more to the format of the site. The article still needs some references.

Your images are nicely focused but have significant vignetting. If you are taking more, Koehler illumination helps reduce that. Preceding stated, I am thinking about how I can tweak images like that. Michael (talk) 01:55, 17 October 2014 (EDT)

Yes - you'll see that in a number of the images I have - there is an explanation but it's fairly ridiculous.

Sometimes the 'ridiculous' is the most interesting. In any case, a less-than-ideal picture is better than no picture. :-)

Fortunately my skin material lacks the 'bowing' and is much nicer.

Sounds good.

Please let me know if you ever figure out how to fix that appearance.

I have a partial fix -- that looks very convoluted if one has never used GIMP. I am looking for even better though-- but that will be some time. I have some pictures with that effect too-- I took them before I knew anything about microphotography.
Currently, I use what I call the student method. It is cumbersome-- but parts are automated with a script.

PS - I created your user page -- you can change it however you want. I have some subpages -- for notes, e.g. User:Michael/Notes. Feel free to use [[your user page for notes or create a subpage (e.g. User:Sarah/Notes).

Mesenchymal chondrosarcoma

I created a separate article and moved the material. I am a bit low on sleep... have to check later.

The article mesenchymal chondrosarcoma already existed and redirected to chondrosarcoma. Generally speaking, this is true for many subtypes -- I "redirect" them to the main diagnosis. When the section about the subtype gets too big... it becomes a separate article.

This is what the old version of mesenchymal chondrosarcoma looked like: [1]

PS - Yesterday (Nov 19) the wiki had over 450 visitors... a new (one day) record. :-)

Un-redirecting

Editing an article that is redirected can be done a couple of ways:

  1. Type the article name into the search box and click on it. Then scroll to the very top of the article you were sent to and you should see the 'article name' as a link-- click on it. For example you want to edit granulomas which redirects to the article basics. If you follow the link to granulomas-- and scroll back to the top of basics (after it sends you there) you'll see "Basics (Redirected from Granulomas)". If you click on the Granulomas there it will take you to the article.
  2. You can type in http://librepathology.org/wiki/index.php?title=NAMEOFARTICLEHERE&action=edit into the address bar -- and replace NAMEOFARTICLEHERE with the name of the article you want to edit, e.g. http://librepathology.org/wiki/index.php?title=granulomas&action=edit .

I hope the above helps! Michael (talk) 00:11, 21 November 2014 (EST)

Images :-) & breast pathology

It is as if you've been on fire the last little while. :-)

Feel free to add images to the infobox diagnosis. I did it for the metaplastic breast carcinoma article - see [2] - after you added the many images. If you have any questions, as always don't hesitate to ask.

On the topic of breast pathology, I recently read an interesting article http://jama.jamanetwork.com/article.aspx?articleid=2203798 . I probably ought to work that into the quality article.
