Mucosal prolapse syndrome, abbreviated MPS, is a set of benign distal gastrointestinal tract pathologies that includes:

• Rectal prolapse.
• Proctitis cystica profunda.
• Inflammatory cloacogenic polyp.
• Solitary rectal ulcer syndrome.

Submitted as "Rectosigmoid Polyp", Excision:
- Polypoid fragment of colorectal mucosa with epithelial denudation and (lamina propria) 
  smooth muscle hyperplasia, compatible with mucosal prolapse.
- NEGATIVE for evidence of dysplasia.
