Tornwaldt cyst is rare benign head and neck thingy.

It can be considered a subset of nasopharyngeal bursitis.[1]

General

  • Primitive notochord remnant.[2]
  • May be painful.[3]

Gross

  • Medial posterior pharyngeal wall.[4]

NASOPHARYNEAL TISSUE, EXCISION:
- MUCOSA LINED BY RESPIRAOTRY EPITHELIUM WITH LYMPHOID STROMA;
  CONSISTENT WITH LINING OF A THORNWALDT CYST.
- NEGATIVE FOR DYSPLASIA AND NEGATIVE FOR MALIGNANCY.
