Scalp hematomas

Scalp hematomas may arise in the context of child birth. They are classified based on location.

Types

Layers from superficial to deep:[1]

  • Skin.
    • Caput succadaneum.
  • Epicranial aponeurosis.
    • Subgaleal hematoma.
  • Periosteum.
    • Cephalhematoma.
  • Skull.
    • Epidural hematoma.
  • Dura.
  • Brain.
