Colitis cystica profunda, abbreviated CCP, a very rare gastrointestinal pathology.
General
- Very rare ~ 200 cases reported.[1]
- Benign - may mimic adenocarcinoma.[2]
- Has been reported in conjunction with colonic adenocarcinoma.[3]
- The same process in the small bowel is enteritis cystica profunda.[1]
- Association with cap polyposis.[4]
Gross

- Colon and rectum - usu. distal location.
- Typically focal.
- Polypoid lesions.
Microscopic
Features:
DDx:
- Well-differentiated colorectal adenocarcinoma.[2]
- Metastatic mucinous adenocarcinoma.
