Radiation colitis
is inflammation of the
colon
due to radiation.
Microscopic
Features - acute:
[1]
Mucosal changes:
Necrosis
of epithelium.
"Ghost cells" = cells without nuclei.
Hemorrhage.
Submucosa edema with neutrophilic infiltrate.
+/-Fibrin thrombi.
