Suture material is occasionally seen under the microscope. It is usually easy to identified and typically polarizes.
General
- May be used to orient a specimen.
Microscopic
Features:
- Glassy appearance - sharply circumscribed.
- +/-Tearing surrounding tissue.
- Foreign body-type granulomas with multinucleated giant cells.
