Psammoma bodies appear in benign and malignant conditions. Their presence can help focus the DDx.[1]

The following is an incomplete list.
Benign
- Endosalpingiosis.
- Intrauterine device (IUD).[2]
Malignant
- Papillary thyroid carcinoma.
- Serous carcinoma.
- Papillary renal cell carcinoma.
- Meningioma.
- Mesothelioma.
