Glycogenic acanthosis of the esophagus is a benign uncommon change of the esophagus.

General

  • Uncommon.
  • Benign.
  • Possible association with ingestion of hot liquids.[1]

Gross/endoscopic

  • Distinctive endoscopic appearance - grey/white raised lesion.[1]

  • Squamous epithelium with:
    • Superficial clearing of the cytoplasm.
    • Thickening.
