Pneumocytoma is a rare benign lesion of the lung. It is also known as benign sclerosing pneumocytoma.[1]
It was previously known as sclerosing hemangioma.
General
Epidemiology
- Female in 40s.[4]
- Considered benign; excision is curative.
- Rare case reports of metastases.
Gross
- Peripheral, solitary.
- Well-circumscribed.
Microscopic
Features:[4]
- Mixed cell population.
- Variable architecture:
- Papillary.
- Sclerotic.
- Solid.
- Hemorrhagic.
- +/-Granulomas.
DDx:[5]
- Papillary adenoma.
- Neuroendocrine tumour (carcinoid).

- SMA -ve.
- CEA -ve.
