Suture material is occasionally seen under the microscope. It is usually easy to identified and typically polarizes.

General

  • May be used to orient a specimen.

Microscopic

Features:

  • Glassy appearance - sharply circumscribed.
  • +/-Tearing surrounding tissue.
  • Foreign body-type granulomas with multinucleated giant cells.
