Smooth muscle tumour of uncertain malignant potential, abbreviated STUMP is smooth muscle lesion in which the behaviour (benign vs. malignant) cannot be ascertained with certainty.
This article deals the uterine lesion. The prostatic stromal lesion is dealt with in smooth muscle tumour of uncertain malignant potential of the prostate gland.
General
- Like ASAP and ASCUS - a waffle category... when one isn't sure it is a leiomyoma vs. leiomyosarcoma.
- Clinical behaviour in uterus: usually benign.[1]
- Can be subclassified into four groups - as per Stanford.
- May be seen in the prostate gland.[2]

- Long-term follow-up.[1]

Features associated with recurrence:[1]
- Nuclear atypia.
DDx:
IHC
