Laryngectomy, formally total laryngectomy, is the surgical removal of the larynx.

Introduction

The usual indication is laryngeal cancer.

The specimen consists of [laryngopharyngectomy to include oropharynx, nasopharynx, hypopharynx, state laterality]

Pharyngeal tissue (superior-inferior, left-to-right, anterior-posterior): ___ x ___ x ___ cm; integrity: [intact/disrupted]. Laryngectomy (superior-inferior, left-to-right, anterior-posterior): ___ x ___ x ___ cm; integrity: [intact/disrupted]. Thyroid gland [total/partial]: (superior-inferior, left-to-right, anterior-posterior): ___ x ___ x ___ cm; integrity: [intact/disrupted]; appearance [including parenchyma]. Tumour:
