Keratoconus is a pathology of the cornea characterized by thinning and bulging.[1]

General

  • Relatively common.

Microscopic

Features:

  • Thinning of the cornea.[2]
  • Anterior limiting lamina with variable thickness.[2]

Notes:

  • Anterior limiting lamina = layer below the basement membrane.[3]
    • Normally has a uniform thickenss.
