Napsin A, also napsin, is a commonly used immunostain in pulmonary pathology.
Positive
- Lung adenocarcinoma - 83% of cases.[1]
- Papillary renal cell carcinoma 79% of cases.[1]
- Renal oncocytoma 57% of cases.[2]
Occasionally positive
- Clear cell renal cell carcinoma - 34% of cases.[1]
- Papillary thyroid carcinoma - 2/81 cases, tall cell variant only.[1]
- Clear cell tubulopapillary RCC - 47% of cases.[2]
Negative
- Squamous cell carcinoma of the lung.[1]
- Colorectal adenocarcinoma.[1]
- Pancreatic adenocarcinoma.[1]
- Breast carcinoma (0 positive of 17 cases[1]).
