An infarct is tissue that died due to a compromised blood supply. The vascular compromise can be either arterial or venous.
Pathologic classification
- Red (hemorrhagic).
- White (non-hemorrhagic).
Location
- Placental infarct.
- Lung infarct.
- Myocardial infarct.
- Prostatic infarct.
- Splenic infarct.
- Ovarian infarct.
A misnomer
