Workload measurement, in pathology, is the quantification of work. It is important in workforce planning and quality.[1]

There are various systems to quantify workload.

Level 4 equivalent

  • Abbreviated L4E.
  • System endorsed by the Canadian Association of Pathologists.[1]

Current procedural terminology

  • Abbreviated CPT.
  • A nomenclature system by the American Medical Association that covers all medical services - not only pathology.[2]

Automatable activity-based approach to complexity unit scoring

  • Abbreviated AABACUS.
  • A workload model developed by the University Health Network in Toronto.[3]

Workload2Quality

  • Abbreviated W2Q.
  • A workload model proposed by the Ontario Association of Pathologists.[4]
