Discordance with rads

TWIN PLACENTA, UMBILICAL CORDS AND FETAL MEMBRANES, BIRTH:
- FETAL MEMBRANES AT T-ZONE:
-- CHORION ABSENT, SEE COMMENT.
- TWIN A:
-- THREE VESSEL UMBILICAL CORD WITHIN NORMAL LIMITS.
-- FETAL MEMBRANES WITHIN NORMAL LIMITS.
-- PLACENTAL DISC WITH THIRD TRIMESTER VILLI.
- TWIN B:
-- THREE VESSEL UMBILICAL CORD WITHIN NORMAL LIMITS.
-- FETAL MEMBRANES WITHIN NORMAL LIMITS.
-- PLACENTAL DISC WITH THIRD TRIMESTER VILLI WITH FOCAL PERIVILLOUS
   FIBRIN DEPOSITION.

COMMENT:
Lack of a chorion in the T-zone suggests a diamniotic-monochorionic gestation.

The discordance with radiology was noted; thus, the T-zone re-examined grossly.
The T-zone is translucent, thin and has no apparent blood vessels; however, it
does separate. Clinical correlation is suggested.

Chorionitis

TWIN PLACENTA, UMBILICAL CORDS AND FETAL MEMBRANES, BIRTH:
- FETAL MEMBRANES AT T-ZONE:
-- CHORION PRESENT (DIAMNIOTIC-DICHORIONIC GESTATION).
-- MECONIUM PRESENT, FOCAL.
- TWIN A:
-- THREE VESSEL UMBILICAL CORD WITH FUNISITIS.
-- FETAL MEMBRANES WITH CHORIONITIS AND MECONIUM.
-- PLACENTAL DISC WITH THIRD TRIMESTER VILLI, SMALL HEMATOMA, FOCAL ZONAL
   PERIVILLOUS FIBRIN DEPOSITION.
- TWIN B:
-- THREE VESSEL UMBILICAL CORD WITHIN NORMAL LIMITS.
-- FETAL MEMBRANES WITHIN NORMAL LIMITS, RARE NEUTROPHILS IN THE DECIDUA.
-- PLACENTAL DISC WITH THIRD TRIMESTER VILLI, NO SIGNIFICANT PATHOLOGY.
