Congenital AI with subaortic stenosis

Microscopic

The sections show valvular tissue with thickening of the fibrosa layer and spongiosa layer. No inflammation of valvular tissue is present.

Final diagnosis

Aortic valve leaflets, Ross procedure - Valvular tissue with fibromyxoid hyperplasia.

Query subacute endocarditis

AORTIC VALVE (RIGHT CORONARY CUSP), EXCISION:
- VALVE TISSUE WITH INCREASED STROMAL CELLULARITY AND VERY RARE MONONUCLEAR CELLS.
- NO MICRO-ORGANISMS APPARENT.

Micro

A and B. The sections show valve tissue without calcifications. No neutrophils are apparent. The valve stroma has a myxoid appearance and mildly increased cellularity. No micro-organisms are apparent with routine stains. Part B shows very rare macrophages and plasma cells.
