Prostatic-type polyp is an uncommon polyp of the genitourinary tract. It is typically centered on the verumontanum of the prostate gland and projects into the urethra.
It may be referred to as verumontanum mucosa gland hyperplasia;[1] however, Muezzinoglu et al. suggest they are a separate entity.[2]

- Hematuria - classic presentation.[3]
- Uncommon - as a separate specimen.
- Relatively common in prostatectomy specimens if one looks for it; 14% of cases in series of 341 cases.[1]
Microscopic
Features:[4]
- Benign prostatic type epithelium or transitional type epithelium.
- Cuboidal to low columnar cells with basal cell layer.
- +/-Corpora amylacea.
