Microphthalmia transcription factor, abbreviated MITF, is a common immunostain in the diagnosis of malignant melanoma.

MITF is a in the microphthalmia (abbreviated MiT) subfamily of transcription factors that also inclues TFE3, TFEB, TFEC.[1]
