Liver transplantation pathology is a niche within a niche. It deals with question: "Is it rejection or something else?".

Rejection

Tx: more immunosuppression.

Grading

RAI (rejection activity index):[1]

  • Based on three components:
    1. Endothelial inflammation - scored 0-3.
    2. Bile duct damage - scored 0-3.
    3. Portal inflammation - scored 0-3.
  • The three components are added to give a score with a range of 0 to 9.
