Infarct

An infarct is tissue that died due to a compromised blood supply. The vascular compromise can be either arterial or venous.

Pathologic classification

• Red (hemorrhagic).
• White (non-hemorrhagic).

Location

• Placental infarct.
• Lung infarct.
• Myocardial infarct.
• Prostatic infarct.

A misnomer
