Summary

Description
English: Very low magnification micrograph of atypical ductal hyperplasia, abbreviated ADH. Breast core biopsy. H&E stain.

The green and blue (seen at low magnification) are marks from a pathologist and a pathology resident.

ADH, cytologically, architecturally and on a molecular basis, is a low-grade ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS);[1] however, it has a limited extent, i.e. is present in a very small amount (< 2 mm).

ADH is not considered breast cancer,[2] but recognized as a risk for breast cancer. The usual treatment is lumpectomy to exclude the presence of breast cancer.
