Carotid artery

Microscopic

Sections show an endarterectomy specimen containing a large eccentric plaque of atheroma with areas of necrosis and calcification. There is evidence of focal ulceration/desection.

Diagnosis

CAROTID ARTERY, RIGHT: - ATHEROSCLEROSIS, COMPLICATED.
