Helicobacter
Microscopic description
A. The sections shows normal small bowel mucosa without Brunner's glands.
B. The sections shows normal small bowel mucosa with Brunner's glands.
C. The sections show antral-type gastric mucosa with many Helicobacter organisms and a mild-to-moderate mixed inflammatory infiltrate including, plasma cells, neutrophils and lymphocytes. No dysplasia is identified. A large histomorphologically benign lymphoid nodule is present, that has a well-developed germinal center.
D. The sections show body-type gastric mucosa with many Helicobacter organisms and a moderate mixed inflammatory infiltrate including, plasma cells, neutrophils and lymphocytes. No dysplasia is identified.
E. The sections show normal esophageal-type mucosa.
F. The sections show antral-type gastric mucsoa and submucosal glands with abundant Helicobacter organisms and a moderate mixed inflammatory infiltrate including, plasma cells, neutrophils and lymphocytes. No dysplasia is identified.
Final diagnosis
A. Duodenum, biopsy - no pathology.
B. Duodenum, cap, biopsy - no pahtology.
C. Stomach, antrum, biopsy -
- i) Helicobacter gastritis, moderate.
- ii) morphologically benign lymphoid nodule.
D. Stomach, body, biopsy - Helicobacter gastritis, moderate.
E. Esophagus, distal, biopsy - no pathology.
F. Stomach, pyloric nodule, biopsy - Helicobacter gastritis, severe.
Body versus antrum
- G cells = 1 antrum.
- Villi = 1/2 antrum.
- Abundant parietal cells = 1 body.
