Microscopic
The sections show valvular tissue with thickening of the fibrosa layer and spongiosa layer. No inflammation of valvular tissue is present.
Final diagnosis
Aortic valve leaflets, Ross procedure - Valvular tissue with fibromyxoid hyperplasia.
Query subacute endocarditis
AORTIC VALVE (RIGHT CORONARY CUSP), EXCISION: - VALVE TISSUE WITH INCREASED STROMAL CELLULARITY AND VERY RARE MONONUCLEAR CELLS. - NO MICRO-ORGANISMS APPARENT.
Micro
A and B. The sections show valve tissue without calcifications. No neutrophils are apparent. The valve stroma has a myxoid appearance and mildly increased cellularity. No micro-organisms are apparent with routine stains. Part B shows very rare macrophages and plasma cells.
