Splendore-Hoeppli phenomenon

Deeply eosinophilic material, typically surrounding micro-organisms. It it thought to be composed of immunoglobulin and necrotic debris rich in microbial antigen.

Suppurative lymphadenitis in the neck caused by Actinomyces infection. The eosinophilc rim represents the Splendore-Hoeppli phenomenon.
