Basal crypt dysplasia, abbreviated BCD, is a dysplastic change that involves the crypt bases but not the surface.[1]
Microscopic
Features:
- "Dysplastic changes" in the crypt base:
- Hyperchromasia - important.
- Nuclear enlargement.
- Nuclear crowding (pseudostratification).
- Non-dysplastic (normal) surface epithelium.
