Crypt abscess is a collection of neutrophils in an intestinal crypt. On the spectrum of inflammatory changes, it is more severe than cryptitis but less severe than ulceration.
Microscopic
Features:
- Neutrophils in the lumen of an intestinal crypt.
Notes:
- No minimum is defined for "neutrophils".[citation needed]
- Usually seen with cryptitis.
