Serrated glands and dysplasia

Micro

The sections show colorectal-type mucosa with cellular pseudostratification and enlarged hyperchromatic nuclei, from the crypt base to the luminal aspect (dysplasia).

No cribriforming of glands is identified. Goblet cells are present in the dysplastic epithelium. Dysplastic nuclei have an ellipsoid-shape and basally stratified.

Adjacent to the dysplasia are superficially serrated glands (suggestive of a hyperplastic polyp). There are no serrations in the crypt base and there is no crypt base dilation.
