Sensitvity and specificity are a recurring theme in medicine and pathology.

Definition

Sensitivity

$S e n s i t i v i t y = T P / (T P + F N)$

Specificity

$S p e c i f i c i t y = T N / (T N + F P)$

Notes:

TP = true positive.
FN = false negative.
TN = true negative.
FP = false positive.
