Microscopic
A-E. The sections show colonic type mucosa with apoptotic bodies with lymphocyte satellitosis. There are rare scattered neutrophils and eosinophils. There are no exploding crypts and there is no mucosa ulceration. Special stains for CMV, adenovirus and EBV are negative.
Diagnosis
A-E. Colon, location not specified; colon, splenic flexure; colon, descending; colon, sigmoid; rectum - biopsies (x5) - colonic type mucosa with graft-versus-host disease, grade I.
