Cautery artefact, also cautery/crush artefact and crush artefact, is common mimic of disease.

Features:

  • Elongated thin toothpick-like nuclei.

DESCENDING COLON, BIOPSY:
- COLONIC MUCOSA WITH EXTENSIVE CAUTERY/CRUSH ARTEFACT -- LIMITING INTERPRETATION.
- NO APPARENT DYSPLASIA.
