Nevus lipomatosus superficialis
Nevus lipomatosus superficialis, abbreviated NLS, is an uncommon benign skin lesion seen on young adults.
It is also known as nevus lipomatosus cutaneous superficialis (abbreviated NLCS) and nevus lipomatosus.[1]
General
Clinically separated into:[4]
- Solitary - one lesion.
- Multiple - more than one lesion.
Gross
Features:[2]
- Pedunculated lesion.
- Soft.
- Usually lower trunk or gluteal region.[5]

Features:[6]
- Benign adipose tissue in the dermis.
- Adipocytes in reticular dermis +/- papillary dermis.[7]
DDx:
- Lipoma.
- Fibroepithelial polyp (skin tag).
- Intradermal nevus with adipocytes.[8]
