Benign thymus with stress
Microscopic
Sections show thymus with normal cortical and medullary development. While the corticomedullary junction is well demarcated, there is mild cortical lymphocyte depletion and an increase in histiocytes within the cortex.
Final diagnosis
Thymus, incidental thymectomy:
- Architecturally normal thymus with mild to moderate physiologic stress effects.
