Tips of an ellipse involved
The lesion is clear of the margins in the plane of section in slide A2-1. However, the lesion is present in the mid portion of one of the tips (slide A1-1); this suggests the lesion is marginally excised or may be at the margin.
Actinic granuloma of O'Brien
SKIN LESION, RIGHT ANTERIOR SHOULDER, EXCISION: - SMALL NON-NECROTIZING GRANULOMA, SUPERFICIAL, SEE COMMENT. - SOLAR ELASTOSIS, MILD. - NEGATIVE FOR MICRO-ORGANISMS WITH SPECIAL STAINS (ZN, GMS, PASF). - NEGATIVE FOR MALIGNANCY. COMMENT: The granuloma could represent an 'actinic granuloma O'Brien'. The granuloma is NOT typical of sarcoid. No dermal scar is seen.
