Fibrous hamartoma of infancy is an uncommon lesion usually seen in infancy.

General

  • Uncommon.
  • Infants and young children.[1]

Gross

  • Typical location: lower back, gluteal region or scrotum.[2]

Microscopic

Features:[1]

  • Fibrous tissue.
  • Adipose tissue.
  • Mesenchymal tissue - nerve-like.
  • +/-Pseudoangiomatous pattern.

  • S-100 -ve.
    • Adipose tissue +ve.
  • SMA +ve (fibrous tissue).
  • CD34 +ve (fibrous tissue, immature mesenchymal tissue, pseudoangiomatous foci).
