Dysplasia
URINARY BLADDER LESION, DOME, BIOPSY: - UROTHELIAL DYSPLASIA, SEE COMMENT. - BENIGN MUSCULARIS PROPRIA. COMMENT: The urothelium's nuclei have mild atypia, as would be seen in a low-grade papillary urothelial carcinoma. Immunostaining is as follows: p53 - weak to moderate staining of 10% of the urothelium, predominantly basal. CK20 - focal staining of surface cells (umbrella cells), otherwise negative. Ki-67 - 20-30% of urothelium, predominantly basal.
Ki-67
- 60x objective... estimated ~21 cells across. Thus, ~350 cells in the field (21*21/4*pi ~ 346).
- If it is 20 cells... it is 314 cells in the field.
- Field Diameter = 22 mm/60 = 0.366667 mm.
- Average cell size = 367 micrometres/21 ~= 17 micrometres.
