Post-inflammatory pigment alteration, abbreviated PIPA, is benign dermal pigmentation change. It may be either hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation.[1]

Gross
- Hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation.

Features:
- Perivascular pigment incontinence.
- No melanocytic nests.
- No increase of melanocytes.
DDx:
- Ephelis (freckle).
- Solar lentigo.
Stains
- Fontana-Masson stain +ve.
- Iron stain -ve.
