Epstein-Barr virus-associated smooth muscle tumour, abbreviated EBV-SMT, is a very uncommon soft tissue lesion.[1]
General
- Immunosuppressed individuals, e.g. individuals with HIV.
- Caused by Epstein-Barr virus.
Microscopic
Features:[1]
- Smooth muscle lesion:
- Spindle cells in a fascicular arrangement.
- Usually minimal nuclear atypia and few mitoses.
- Lymphocytes.
