Risks

- Advanced age.
- Trauma.
- Unusual loading (bony misalignment, obesity).
Gross pathology/radiology

- Loss of cartilage, especially asymmetrical (eburnation).
- Osteophyte formation.
- Subchondral cysts.
- Subchondral sclerosis.
